BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION
This position reports to the Principal, School for the Blind, and is responsible for providing orientation and mobility instruction to students from pre-school through transition age who are visually impaired, and who may have other disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an
accredited college or university.
•Must hold certification as a specialist in Orientation and
Mobility from the Academy for Certification of Vision
Rehabilitation and Education of Professionals (ACVREP).
•Must hold or be eligible for appropriate Educator/Special
Services licensure in the State of Colorado, endorsed as a
School Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
•Educator licensure in the State of Colorado, endorsed as a
Special Education Specialist: Visually Impaired or
comparable endorsement preferred.
•Experience working with children (in an educational
environment) with visual impairments and/or additional
disabilities preferred.
•Proficiency or commitment to work toward proficiency, in
American Sign Language (ASL) at the Novice level as
demonstrated through an appropriate assessment tool and
according to school policy.
